Serve legal documents anywhere in Minnesota with confidence. Served 123 LLC coordinates sheriffs and qualified private process servers across all 87 Minnesota counties — from the Twin Cities metro through Rochester and Duluth, across the Iron Range to the prairie counties along the Dakota borders — delivering same-day service and affidavits that hold up in any Minnesota District Court.
Under Minn. R. Civ. P. 4.02, service of process in Minnesota may be made by the sheriff of the county where service is effected, a sheriff's deputy, or by any person not less than 18 years of age who is not a party to the action. Minnesota does not require statewide licensing of private process servers, but district courts scrutinize returns tightly — particularly on whether substituted service was properly delivered to a household member.
Personal service is the default under Minn. R. Civ. P. 4.03(a). Substituted service may be effected by leaving a copy at the individual's usual place of abode with a person of suitable age and discretion then residing therein. Minnesota's "person residing therein" requirement is strict — a visitor, a housekeeper, or a neighbor who doesn't live at the address won't satisfy the rule. Service on entities is governed by Rule 4.03(c). Service outside Minnesota uses Rule 4.04 combined with the Long-Arm Statute at Minn. Stat. §543.19. Service by mail with acknowledgment is permitted under Rule 4.05.
Minnesota has 87 counties and some of the largest service distances in the Midwest — from Kittson County on the Canadian border to Rochester takes the better part of a day. Served 123 LLC routes by region: Twin Cities metro gets rush service, outstate Minnesota gets in-region servers who know the geography and won't burn your deadline on travel time.
